New documentary series: "A violent honor"
2023 / 11 / 07In the documentary series "A Violent Honor" (En Våldsam Heder) we get to follow three authentic cases deeply affected by honor-related violence and oppression.
The series portrays. in four episodes, honor killings, forced marriages, and female genital mutilation, shedding light on the severe consequences faced by the victims. Additionally, experts specialized in honor-related issues provide us with an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms underlying the oppression and violence.
- With this series, I aim to highlight a serious societal issue that is largely invisible to the general public. Girls born into honor cultures are forced to live a restricted life on so many levels, says producer Jessica MacDowall.
"A Violent Honor" premieres on SVT on November 14th.
